The network for Chewhaytsum S’Klallam identity

Advocating for S’Klallam institutions

S'Klallam identity has never been the government's to define. It is rooted in place, in our relationships to one another, and in our kinship with the lands and waters that have held our people for thousands of years. It does not begin with the Indian Act, and it is not granted or limited by federal policy, legislation, or any modern treaty.

The right to say who belongs is ours. The S'Klallam Chewhaytsum Society recognizes the descendants of the Chewhaytsum Douglas Treaty on our own terms, and upholds the identity our ancestors fought for and passed down to us.

Our people deserve a membership that recognizes that reality.

  • The Society’s membership is built on lineage to the Chewhaytsum Douglas Treaty and to our nəxʷsƛ̕ay̕əm people.

  • Reach out through the contact page or members portal, and the Board confirms your connection and welcomes you in.

  • You elect the President and Board, serve on committees, and decide everything that touches our title, rights, and treaty.

  • For a voice in our governance, a place in our community, access to programs and service, and a hand in protecting our title and rights.
